We are excited here at Number Six, no the new year hasn't got us giddy, Levi's have. The Levi's Made & Crafted range from our good friends focuses on the details. Using materials developed in Japan, Italy and the USA as well as clever design features, Levi's have managed to make a collection that rivals some of their Vintage classics.
The first and most obvious part of the collection to talk about is the denim. Now we weren't sure Levi's really needed to change much on this front. As the most recognisable Jeans brand in the world we were under the impression they'd found the winning formula. If it ain't broke don't fix it eh?
Well not entirely. The Made & Crafted range has some twists that in our eyes are quite simply genius. One of the most interesting differences is the arcuate on the back pockets (that's the fancy batwing stitch you get on your back pockets in case you didn't know). The Made & Crafted range has stitched this inside the back pockets. Why we hear you ask? Well it's so that the iconic pattern fades into the pocket itself creating what have dubbed the "ghost arcuate". As well as the ghost arcuate Levi's Made & Crafted denim features a specially made blue selvedge and indigo dyed leather tabs. We are going to put our heads on the line and say it's probably some of the bluest denim available.
With the bench mark being set so high by the denim we'd forgive you if you were thinking it couldn't get any better, but the clothing is the cherry on the cake. Levi's Made & Crafted Clothing have got themselves a time machine. They've gone back to the 70's and brought them back without the mullets and the other bad memories. Retro striped tops that sit somewhere between a sweat and a t-shirt. A cuban collar shirt with a subdued floral print & military jackets. All have a bit of a counter culture feel to them. None would look out of place in Woodstock or Easy Rider. Not only are they effortlessly cool but they are all made with amazing detail and fabrications.
